Located at 965 Gray Rocks Rd, Fort Laramie, WY 82212, Fort Laramie National Historic Site preserves and protects a significant 19th-century trading post, diplomatic site, and military installation located at the confluence of the Laramie and the North Platte rivers. Originally established as a private fur trading fort in 1834, Fort Laramie evolved into the largest and best known military post on the Northern Plains before its abandonment in 1890. Pets that are carried or on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed on the historic grounds, but are not allowed in park buildings. The Fort has pet watering stations at two locations on the park grounds; inquire at the Visitor Center for locations.
