Pets are allowed at Cape Lookout National Seashore, but must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times. The park preserves a 56-mile long section of the Southern Outer Banks, or Crystal Coast, of North Carolina, running from Ocracoke Inlet on the northeast to Beaufort Inlet on the southeast. Three undeveloped barrier islands make up the seashore – North and South Core Banks and Shackleford Banks. The leash requirement is for all islands including Shackleford Banks. Some of the ferries will carry pets to the islands; contact the ferry service directly for information. With the exception of the Great Island and Long Point Cabins, pets are not allowed inside any buildings.
