Pets on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed in some areas of Mount Rainier National Park, located in southeast Pierce County and northeast Lewis County, Washington. Pets are allowed on paved roads open to public vehicles, and no more than six feet from paved roads; in parking lots; and in campgrounds. Pets are not allowed on trails, in wilderness and/or off trail areas, inside buildings, in amphitheaters, on roads closed for winter, or on snow. However, dogs on a leash are allowed on a small portion of Pacific Crest Trail near the park’s eastern boundary. A portion of the Pacific Crest Trail is used to form the Naches Peak Loop Trail near Tipsoo Lake. Dogs are allowed on the Pacific Crest Trail portion of the loop but are not allowed on the non-PCT sections of the Naches Peak Loop Trail within the park. There are no kennel facilities in the park.
