Assateague Island National Seashore Campgrounds are available only in the Maryland district of Assateague Island. Camping facilities include chemical toilets, seasonal cold water showers (mid-March through mid-November) and drinking water. Pets on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed in the campgrounds, but are not permitted in all backcountry campsites, on nature trails, lifeguard-protected beach, north of the State Park to the Ocean City inlet, and the entire Virginia portion of Assateague Island.
