Huron-Manistee National Forest Campgrounds are located in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Dispersed and primitive tent camping are allowed almost anywhere, unless otherwise posted closed and/or “No Camping”. Developed campgrounds provide amenities such as bathrooms, fire rings, picnic tables and sometimes a boat launch. Some campgrounds and/or campsites can accommodate RVs, while others are better for tent camping. Most campgrounds have drinking water. No RV hook-ups are available for water, sewage or electric at any campground. Dogs on leash are allowed in the forest. Dogs are not allowed on designated swimming beaches, and in the spring there may be some areas closed to dogs for the protection of threatened and endangered species. Camping with horses is available at four campgrounds along the Shore to Shore Trail, one campground at Marzinski Horse Trail and one campground at Hungerford Recreation Area.
