Dogs, cats, or other pets are allowed in Cape Hatteras National Seashore, but must be on a 6-foot leash, crated, caged, or otherwise under physical restraint. Stretching over 70 miles, the park preserves the portion of the Outer Banks of North Carolina from Bodie Island to Ocracoke Island. Pets are not permitted on designated swimming beaches or in buildings. Horses are allowed anywhere vehicles are permitted to drive, except in campgrounds; horseback riding is prohibited in NPS campgrounds.
