Located at 13551 Fort Washington Rd, Fort Washington, MD 20744, Fort Washington Park was for many decades the only defensive fort protecting Washington D.C. The expansive grounds of the present Fort Washington Park, with its extensive hiking/bicycle paths and river view, are a scenic venue for picnicking, fishing, and outdoor recreation. Pets on a leash are allowed in all outdoor park areas, including the parade ground and bastions of the old fort. Pets are not allowed in the visitor center or the barracks buildings of the old fort.
